Barry
Greenstein is
widely
known
as
one
of
the
best
all
around
poker
players
on
the
planet.
Barry
is
an
excellent
player
in
all
forms
of
poker,
and
has
established
himself
as
one
of
the
most
common
faces
seen
at “The
Big
Game”,
which
features
a
mix
of
different
poker
games
and
is
played
at
the
highest
of
limits.
Barry
G.
did
not
flourish
into
the
world
of
professional
poker
at
a
young
age.
Barry
was
however
introduced
to
the
game
as
a
youngster,
by
a
father
who
had
learn
to
play
poker
while
he
was
in
the
Army,
and
passed
his
skills
and
love
for
the
game
on
to
his
son.
Barry
grew
up
in
the
Chicago
area,
where
he
was
an
academically
accomplished
student
through
high
school.
Barry
went
on
to
attend
University
of
Illinois,
where
he
displayed
further
academic
prowess,
earning
a
degree
in
computer
science.
After
his
undergrad
work,
he
went
on
to
work
on
a
master's
degree
in
mathematics,
something
he
certainly
uses
in
his
poker
career,
however
he
left
for
the
corporate
world
before
finishing
his
final
dissertation
and
his
degree. Barry
left
for
a
job
at
Symantec,
working
as
a
software
developer.
Though
Barry
did
have
his
hand
in
many
important
projects,
he
did
not
gain
the
fortunes
which
are
associated
with
being
part
of
the
dot
com
boom.
Greenstein
continued
to
play
poker,
and
decided
to
make
a
jump
to
playing
professionally
in
the
early
1990's.
Since
that
time,
Barry
has
set
the
world
of
poker
on
fire
with
his
skills,
and
postured
himself
as
a
great
ambassador
for
the
game.
One
thing
that
evidences
this
is
his
continued
commitment
to
charity.
Barry
donates
a
large
portion
of
his
winnings
to
a
variety
of
charities,
with
the
main
one
being
Children,
Inc.
Barry
often
speaks
about
how
great
it
feels
to
have
the
ability
to
use
his
wealth
to
help
others
in
the
world
community.
This,
along
with
Barry's
friendly
persona
has
made
him
a
favorite
of
both
his
peers,
and
poker
fans.
He
has
also
earned
himself
the
nick-name “The
Robin
Hood
of
Poker”.
When
you
examine
Barry
as
a
poker
player,
you
find
a
player
who
is
among
the
cream
of
the
crop.
Many
professional
players
specialize
in
certain
games,
or
in
only
tournaments,
or
only
cash
games.
Barry,
however,
can
be
found
playing
almost
every
variety
of
poker,
at
the
highest
level.
He
is
often
a
part
of
the
biggest
cash
games
in
the
world,
and
has
a
very
impressive
tournament
resume
to
go
along
with
it.
Barry
has
been
a
World
Poker
Tour
regular,
cashing
in
eleven
events,
with
over
$2,000,000
in
winnings.
Twice
he
has
won
a
WPT
event,
wining
the
WPT
Open
in
2004,
and
the
WPT
Invitational
Tournament
in
2006.
Barry
has
made
13
World
Series
of
Poker
final
tables,
and
holds
three
WSOP
bracelets.
He
has
won
bracelets
in
Razz,
2-7
triple
draw,
and
Pot
Limit
Omaha.
Barry
has
written
one
book,
titled
Ace
on
the
River,
which
is
a
mixture
of
poker
strategy,
advice,
and
tales
from
Barry's
life.
One
unique
thing
that
has
become
Barry's
calling
card,
is
that
when
an
opponent
knocks
him
out
of
a
tournament,
he
gives
them
a
signed
copy
of
his
book.
This
is
one
more
symbol
of
Barry's
cool
level
headed
nature,
something
that
serves
him
very
well
at
the
tables.
In
the
world
of
poker,
Greenstein
has
just
about
seen
it
all,
played
with
the
best,
and
has
come
out
on
top.
Barry
Greenstein's
home
online
site
is
Pokerstars,
where
he
can
be
seen
playing
as
Barryg1.
