Stud
Strategy: Stealing
And Early Bluffing
- A
profitable play
that stud players
often forget about
in cash games
is stealing
the antes or
bluffing early.
If you can be
successful around
forty percent
of the time you
attempt to make
the play (4 times
out of 10) then
you will show
a profit. In
reality though,
stud is a game
where the strength
of your hand
can change quickly
with one card,
so there will
be times you get
called down when
trying to steal,
but win the hand
anyway. This means
that you don’t
even have to be
successful that
full 40%.
Scare
Cards - A perfect
situation for
this would be
when you are showing
a big heart and
hit another one,
even though in
the hole you have
9-10 of spades.
Scare cards are
great opportunities
to steal the antes
in Stud. You can
take control of
a hand by representing
a flush or straight
and often can
take the pot down
in this situation
against a passive
player. Scare
cards work well
when you are playing
aggressive, as
you will often
get an opponent
to fold his small
pair when you
are showing higher
board cards and
being the aggressor. |
